Per Scholas training moves quickly from the first day of class. Completing IT Foundations Tech Prep gives you an introduction to the computer hardware and operating system concepts that serve as the foundation for your technical training.

By completing Tech Prep, you'll build familiarity with:

  • Computer components and hardware terminology
  • Operating system basics across Windows, Linux, and macOS
  • Common technical vocabulary you'll hear throughout your training

Completing Tech Prep gives you the strongest possible start to your training. That is why we require all accepted learners to complete it prior to day 1.

Is Tech Prep required?

Yes. Most programs require Tech Prep before you begin classes.

How long does it take?

Completion time varies by program – most range from about 20 to 30 hours. Check your program's Tech Prep page for your program's specific requirement.

Does it cost anything?

No. Per Scholas will never require you to pay to access or complete required Tech Prep. If a course platform prompts you to purchase a subscription, certificate, upgrade, or other paid feature, do not pay. Contact the Per Scholas Admissions team for assistance.

When is it due?

For most applicants, your Tech Prep is due prior to Day 1, but we encourage you complete Tech Prep early. Your specific completion deadline will be shared during the admissions process. We recommend starting as soon as you receive access.

What happens if I don't complete it?

Tech Prep is an important part of preparing for your program. Not completing the required work by the deadline may affect your enrollment.
